In The Suicide Squad, Elba’s Bloodsport is Amanda Waller’s handpicked leader of Task Force X. As time passed, more details about his real role became known. During production, Gunn kept it secret and allowed many to believe he was playing Vigilante from DC Comics. In the beginning, it was reported that The Suicide Squad was recasting Will Smith with Idris Elba as Deadshot, but it was later revealed that Elba’s character would be someone else – it just wasn’t clear who.
Among the ones chosen were obscure villains like Polka-Dot Man, Weasel, Calendar Man, Blackguard, and Savant. Not unlike his approach to the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies, James Gunn relied on underutilized, underappreciated, and forgotten characters from DC Comics’ library. The rest of the cast is filled out by brand-new additions to the DCEU, with most (but not all) of these characters being villains who have never been used in live-action before. It makes him, in his own words, a "one man Suicide Squad," which gives him a fighting chance against powerhouses like Ultraman.In The Suicide Squad, Idris Elba plays the role of Bloodsport, a minor villain in DC Comics. Now, he can summon weapons custom-made for any specific target across the multiverse. With his powers, he could teleport advanced weaponry to himself in an instant. To that end, Bloodsport's suit has an upgrade over his previous one. There's no telling who could be friend or foe.
Naturally, traveling to different Earths to scout out its occupants is dangerous for Bloodsport, considering the variety of situations he could find himself in. Bloodsport claims that this is especially important to protect his brain, implying that jumping across dimensional barriers could do brain damage or perhaps even trigger the bomb in his head by mistake. With that in mind, she has equipped Bloodsport with a suit that can protect him from the vibrational changes that come with hopping from universe to universe.
Traveling through the multiverse is still risky, even more so for people like Waller and Bloodsport, who have never attempted to do so before.
